Automated data extraction from production control system
The data about deliveries out of the CellaTrace production control system was manually transferred into an Excel spreadsheet on a daily basis at our customer. This work step was very time-consuming and repetitive. With maesn's automation solution, the data could be transferred completely automatically.
Our customer, a mill for grain, has the challenge of documenting the incoming goods and the associated analysis values of the grain deliveries in order to carry out further calculations with the data.
Initial situation:
This business process was done daily in the morning by an employee of the customer, as the data is entered into the production control system CellaTrace the evening before. The data from this system was entered manually into a table to be used for further calculations.
Solution:
With maesn, a solution was integrated that automates this work step. Every evening, the laboratory values are read out from the production control system and transferred to an Excel file. To do this, the programme reads the corresponding table from the system and transfers this data to an Excel spreadsheet with predefined formulas with which the calculations can be carried out.
Result:
Our customer, a wheat mill, has the challenge of documenting the incoming goods and the associated analysis values of the grain deliveries in order to further utilise the data.
Initial situation:
This business process was done daily by an employee of the customer in the morning, as the data is entered into the production control system CellaTrace the evening before. The biggest problem the customer had with the system was that it was a closed system without an export function and so the data had to be extracted manually and entered into a table in order to calculate with it in the further process.
Result:
On the one hand, the use of maesn resulted in a considerable time saving and on the other hand, the error rate was significantly minimised, as there is no longer a need to manually transfer the data and therefore no errors occur during the transfer. In total, 100 minutes of the employee's working time per day could be freed up. The employee has more time for other important tasks, as this standardised work step is no longer on her to-do list.
